The administration of Izgrev district holds chess competitions between school teams in the large municipal hall at 16 A. P. Chekhov Street. The district's news pages report the chess tournament that opens its annual Student Games on 9 October 2024 (teams of two high schools, called the annual competition) and on 8 October 2025 (the same two schools and two new teams, so that interest in chess had doubled), and a chess match between the 105th school and the German school of Sofia in the same hall, reported on 20 February 2026. Only school teams of the district play; it is not open to the public as players.
